| History of Arabic Numerology |
The Science of numerology can be traced from Prophet
Enoch (Prophet Idris in Islam), who was the 7th descendent
of Prophet Adam & the son of Methusala. He should
rightly be called the Father of Numerology. The Hebrews
learnt these astro - sciences from him, which later
spread & created civilizations like that of :-
Babylonia - the land of Prophet Noah
Chaldea - the land of Prophet Abraham
Thamud - the land of Prophet Salih
Hud - the land of Queen of Sheeba
Egypt - the land of Pharoahs
The Greeks, The Aryans (India) and The Mayans, etc.
The Bible also gives factual references related to
numerology, i.e. change of names of prophets according
to the task they were to perform. Abram's name was
changed to Abraham, Jacob's to Israel, Saul's name
to Paul. This would mean that if they were given the
task of destroying something then probably they would
have been given name numbers 5, 6 or 8, like that
of Moses (8), who destroyed the defiant Egyptians
& David (6) who destroyed the Goliath & his
army. This by itself proves that in life the name
of a person, place or thing is of paramount important.
The Aryans, the followers of Hinduism, have always
been in a very big way into astrology and numerology.
Till today, no important step is taken without consulting
the cleric. It is he who ascertains things on the
basis of planetary configurations and guides the followers.
It is used in all walks of life – from birth
to marriage and to death. The Indus Valley Civilizations
(not Aryans) too had almost the same features of Hindu
religion, i.e. idol worship.
The Vedas have an excellent account of astrology,
numerology, astronomy, mathematics, Vaastu, etc. (The
Vaastu science must be taken very seriously when building
a house. It does have a tremendous impact on a person’s
life. This is my personal experience). The Vedas are
a store house of the sciences. The Upanishads, which
are a part of Vedas deal with the mysteries of nature.
In particular, the Jyotisha, one of the six Vedangas
deals with astronomy, astrology and numerology.
Prophet Solomon (approx. 970 B.C.) was the next known
Prophet who had proficiency in the sciences of astrology
& numerology. He was one who could talk to animals,
birds, insects, jinns, etc. The Queen of Sheba whose
name was Bilqis, was the contemporary of Prophet Solomon.
The ancient Sabeans, who had perfected the sciences
of astrology & numerology, began worshipping the
heavenly bodies, the sun, the moon, the planets, etc.
Possibly the cult was connected with that of the Chaldeans
& Babylonians. Prophet Solomon directed the Queen
not to worship heavenly bodies but to worship one
God only. However, he never condemned or discouraged
her from practicing these sciences.
In the Book of Wisdom of Prophet Solomon now included
in the Apocrypha, he says- “….for God
himself gave me an unerring knowledge of the things
that are, to know the constitution of the world, the
beginning and the end and middle of times the alterations
of the Solstices, the changes of seasons and the positions
of planets, the nature of living creatures and the
thoughts of men, all things that are either secret
or manifest I learned for He that is the artificer
of all things taught me this wisdom.” Nothing
could be more convincing & forceful than such
a statement. The true seal of Prophet Solomon was
none other than the seven pointed star which contained
the nine numbers which constitute the base of all
our calculations and which is the root of the system
of numbers as applied to human life.
Pythagoras (560-480 BC), the great mathematician,
is called the father of numerology. He interpreted
the entire physical world in terms of numbers, and
founded their systematic and mystical study. He founded
his own religion in Italy. An Italian but he spent
most of his time in Greece. He did enrich the Science
to the greatest level and added new concepts. Greeks
introduced it to the Romans. I assume that the Romans
too practiced these sciences. It is quite evident
from the fact that the Roman Emperors and Nobles were
born Caesareans, where the wombs of the mothers were
cut to have the birth of the child at a pre- determined
date and time. This was to have their choice of date
and time for the child’s birth, as they played
an important role in the child’s life. The name
number is then derived to boost the characteristic
and the destiny of the child. The Caesarian child
was one of the many indications of numerology being
practiced by the Romans.
The people of these great civilizations knew that
these sciences were a prelude to power and shortest
cut to prosperity. All of them understood the fact
that these Sciences help us to understand ourselves
better, which further helps us to conduct our lives
in a more orderly & organized manner.

The Arabs |
The Arabs grasped these sciences
and evolved ways and means of making use of them for
the good of mankind. Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) neither
encouraged it nor discouraged it. However, he has given
us some Hadith (sayings of Prophet) which could indirectly
be attributed to this, such as, - “Give your child
a good name.” and “Learn to know thyself.”
Late, Syed Mohd. Razi, an Islamic scholar, in his book
– Sayings of Ali – has mentioned that Ali
taught the world astrology, astronomy, mathematics…….
many other subjects. We shouldn’t forget that
Hazrat Ali was entirely a product of the teachings of
Prophet Mohammed (pbuh). In Hazrat Ali’s own words
– “I have never disobeyed God and the Prophet.
The Quran says in verse XV: 16 – “It is
we who have set out
The Zodiacal signs in the heavens
And made them far-seeming
To all beholders”
There couldn’t be anything more clearer indication
than this. Mr. Abdulla Yusuf Ali, one of the most renowned
& respected Quran translators in English, has further
described about the above verse – ‘Then
there are the mansions of the moons, the mapping out
of the constellations and the other marvelous facts
of the heavens some of which affect our physical life
on this earth. But the highest lessons we can draw from
them are spiritual.’
These sciences were perfected by the 6th Imam, Jaafar
Al Sadiq, who made it reach its zenith. His disciples,
such as Jaber Bin Hayyan & many more Arab Scientists
influenced Europe, where as Bahlol Dana, influenced
West Asia & the Sub - Continent. It was for five
or six centuries continuously that almost all the universities
of Europe depended entirely upon the Arabic Books on
various topics such as-
• Al Khalid’s & Al Farghani’s
astronomy,
• Al-Idrisi’s geography,
• Ibn Rushd’s philosophy,
• Ibn Sina’s medicines,
• Jaber Bin Hayyan’s chemistry & numerology,
• Al Khwarizmi’s Algebra,
• Omar Al Khayyam’s mathematics, astronomy
and poetry.

| Some Facts |
The Arabs of the 7th &
8th centuries, highly influenced by the Indian
& Hebrew astro - sciences, perfected them
with more accuracy & introduced many new concepts.
Their astro-sciences created sensations all over
Europe & Middle - East between 12th to 17th
centuries. The modern sciences are a gift to the
world indirectly by the Arabs. It was their work
in different sciences that was recommended in
European universities till the 17th century. It
is after this the European Renaissance began.
Had it not been for the Arabs, Europe would have
never seen its way to the Renaissance and in actual
it was they who gave the world the modern scientific
era that we live in today. In his book, ‘The
Intellectual Development of Europe’ John
W. Draper gives the world the truth about the
great part Islam played in originating modern
civilization. He, as a matter of fact deplores
the way Christian Historians tried to put out
of sight Europe’s debts to Islam. Thomas
Carlyle has also said a lot about it in his book
‘On Heroes, Hero-worship, And the Heroic
in History.’ Similarly many more European
Authors have given lots of information about the
role the Arabs played in giving us this modern
civilization.
The Oxford Dictionary quotes,
“Astrology, long seen as applied astronomy,
was developed by the Greeks and reached Christian
Europe via the Arabs. It was a utilitarian Science
linked to medicine and agriculture, as well as
an ambitious philosophical system resting on the
belief that stars influence the events of the
world and can be used to predict events such as
wars, plagues and the weather. During the Renaissance
Popes such as Paul III(1468 – 1549) were
enthusiastic patrons, and many rulers employed
court astrologers for both political and medical
assistance, Nostradamus being the best known.
A papal bull of 1586 condemned astrology as used
in the prediction of human affairs, but its decline
was slow. It retains a more reputable standing
in many parts of the East, and has enjoyed a revival
in the West in recent years”.
The purpose of any religious
teachings, however good they are, is lost if the
person has loads of problems, sees his children
in bad shape, has acute financial problems, has
ill health, ruinous marital life, etc. These are
the things that instigate or compel people to
commit crimes, making them forget what religion
has taught them, hence, earning a bad name for
themselves. With an increase in such cases they
earn a bad name for the entire community too,
which then start reflecting on that community’s
religious teachings. Hence, a thought must be
given by the leaders of every community, who should
analyze their own scenario and change themselves
as the situation demands for the betterment of
their own people. Arabic numerology gives you
a direction or guidance for a better and a successful
future. It does not change your life overnight.
It is a slow but a confirmed process. Adopt the
guidance and enjoy a healthy and a prosperous
life.
It is clear in the Quran verses
LXXII: 26 & 27 that God does not acquaint
anyone with his mysteries except the chosen ones.
These are further interpreted as – ‘God
reveals such things to the extent that is good
for man, through his chosen ones.’ The brain
to humans is the gift of God, the capacity of
which He Alone has determined and of man under
no circumstances can cross those boundaries or
limits. Hence, God has approved the limits of
man to such an extent that are good for him. However,
within those limits, if the man has learnt negligible
laws and mysteries of the universe that influence
our physical life on this earth, then it should
be understood that we are very much within our
limits and within God’s approval. However,
with time all the things perish - this is the
universal Law of God. These civilizations came
to an end and with that these sciences too perished.
There were numerous reasons behind it. These sciences
were kept secretly amongst the practicing priestly
class. It became their bread earner and was never
made known to the common man. At many places it
was practiced verbally. At other places where
they wrote their observations and kept records,
those were destroyed by invaders. Hence, with
time the finer part of this science was lost.
This is how the old civilizations declined and
so did these sciences. Some civilizations were
either destroyed by God Himself, while others
were destroyed by the invaders. The Arabs lost
these sciences with time because of the invasions
of the Mongols, the Crusaders, and fighting within
the European Continent between the Muslims &
the Christians.
Till today, this science, that
was kept alive by the Islamic Clerics, was using
it for naming a new born only. But our negligence,
ignorance, self centered and selfish attitude,
theocratic views, fundamentalist and hardened
stand has caused the downfall of the Muslims world
over from the heights of glory to the abyss of
oblivion. These sciences if used in the right
direction are a prelude to power and advancement.
They ensure prosperity, good health, development
in all the fields, happy marriages and an enjoyable
life, intelligence, etc. This is what every human,
every nation, every race or community, every civilization
strives for.
The Prophet said - “God hath given to every
man as a personal monitor, a conscience and as
a guide, his reason; then, use them in respect
of all things and God’s blessing will ever
guide you aright.”
This science, partially, has now been revived
by us for the benefit of mankind. We have developed
81 marriage combinations, which would cover every
couple of this world. We have now become an authority
on this subject, with experience of many years.
Keeping a child's name or business name or curing
illnesses, or providing solutions to childless
couples or about marriage combinations no science
is as perfect as Arabic Numerology. It is a Science
endowed with divine power.
